Hilda Kagwiria Kinyua is a seasoned music educator with over 20 years of experience in the Kenyan Secondary School Music Curriculum. Her extensive background in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, combined with her commitment to fostering musical talent, makes her a valuable person to Cheza Music School.
Currently a Tutorial Fellow at Kenyatta University in the Department of Music and Dance, Hilda specializes in areas such as Voice Performance, Production of Musicals, Survey of Western Music, and African Music in the Diaspora. She has a wealth of experience from her tenure as the Head of Music at Precious Blood Secondary School, Riruta, where she was instrumental in preparing students for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) music exams and organizing numerous music-related events and workshops.
Hilda holds a Master's degree in Musical Arts (Performance) and a Bachelor's degree in Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University. She is also pursuing her PhD, focusing on enhancing vocal pedagogy through standardized instructional approaches in Nairobi's public schools.
Her career highlights include co-authoring several educational books, developing curriculum frameworks for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), and serving as an examiner for the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). She is an active member of the Kenya Music Festival Foundation (KMF) and the Kenya Choral Directors Trust (KCDT).
Outside of her professional life, Hilda is passionate about choral music and serves as the Choir Director at Nairobi Baptist Church. She is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians and is committed to excellence in music education.
